By leveraging real-time insights and cloud-based microservices, it improves efficiency, engagement, and system reliability across JP Morgan Chase’s employee platforms.
Developing a Personalization Tool to support the Employee Experience
For the purpose of this case study, I specifically explored the development of a personalization tool designed to enhance the employee experience at JPMorgan Chase. The goal of this tool is to provide tailored recommendations for career development, wellness programs, workflow optimizations, collaboration opportunities, and internal communications.
To achieve this, I leveraged Machine Learning (ML) models to generate personalized recommendations based on employee interactions, preferences, and content similarities. The project follows a structured approach, integrating both Collaborative Filtering (CF) and Natural Language Processing (NLP)-based Content Filtering to build a Hybrid Recommendation System.
We iteratively fine-tuned the model using hyperparameter tuning, cross-validation, and performance evaluation techniques. The final output of this system is a data-driven recommendation engine that aligns employees with relevant internal opportunities, driving engagement, retention, and productivity.
Note: For this case study, I will use the Faker library in Python to generate a mocked dataset
Technical Approach (step-by-step process)

Dataset: A simulated dataset (df_career
) was created to represent employee engagement with different career-related content (e.g., job postings, mentorship programs, training sessions).
The dataset included three key columns:

Evaluating the Model
Evaluating the model in a real-world setting is essential to validate its effectiveness beyond RMSE. By implementing A/B testing and tracking engagement metrics, we ensure that our personalization tool provides tangible value to JPMorgan Chase employees.
This approach enables continuous improvement, ensuring the recommendation engine evolves based on real user behavior and business impact.

Overall Insights
The ML-based recommendations (Group B) outperform the random approach (Group A) across all measured metrics: CTR, Conversion Rate, User Satisfaction (Rating), and Time Spent.
These results strongly favor the ML-based approach for driving employee engagement and satisfaction.
Scaling Up
The initial A/B test was conducted on a limited employee base. To validate findings at a broader scale, we must expand deployment across the organization. A larger rollout ensures statistical reliability and helps refine the model further.
The graph shows a gradual rollout strategy in four phases:
